The Other Tentens

There are two more of Christian and Gertrude's offspring, but I don't know much about them.

Caroline Grant Wall - the French-born one

Caroline (Karolina) married John Henry Grant Wall on April 6 1890, address 43 Packington Street, Islington. They had a son, John Henry Christian Wall in September 1893 at St Saviour, Southwark and move to 3 Ranelagh Grove, Hanover Square Westminster by the 1901 census.

(John Henry Grant Wall was a witness at the wedding of my grandparents, Henry Tenten and Blanche Borrett in 1895 - as was Henry's elder brother, Theodor Christian Tenten)

At the 1911 census, they were living at 3 Victoria Mews, Paddington. John Henry was a junior Furniture Draughtsman, and in Dec 1915 married Florence Irene G Stewart, in Paddington. They lived at 24 Newcombe St., Notting Hill Gate, London.

John Henry Christian was killed in action on 11 April 1917. He was a rifleman in the 13th Battalion, Rifle Brigade (The Prince Consort's Own), service number S/15422.

There was probably a daughter - Irene K Wall - born in Paddington in Sept 1916. Could there have been another, Helen R S Wall born in Gateshead, mother Stewart, Jun 1917? - or just a coincidence.

That's about all I know.

Auguste

Auguste (Augustus) was the last Tenten born before the family left for England. He was born in Germany in 1878 and appears in the 1881 Census as the baby of Christian's family. In the 1891 census he's with Christian in Carnaby Street - a violin maker's apprentice.

On Christmas day 1904, he married Violet Kempster. He was then a chef, living at 521 Fulham Road, Hammersmith.

That's about it. They may have had children, but I don't know of any.
